New SMART General Manager hired

According to the Detroit Free Press: The board of trustees for the Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation, better known as SMART, voted unanimously Tuesday to hire Hayes Jones as the new general manager. The 68-year-old Pontiac resident will replace Dan Dirks, who has held the job for the last nine years and who will retire June 30. According to Crain's Detroit Business: Also approved this week by the board was the appointment of Steven Brown to the vacant position of deputy general manager. Brown is the current director of administration-public health for Wayne County, the part-time mayor of Lincoln Park and a former SMART board member. Read SMART's press release. |
