Attend a meeting

TRU has regular quarterly meetings with presentations, panels and guest speakers on major transit topics – a great way to get to know TRU! Much of our work is done in small groups or committees that meet regularly – consider getting involved that way too. Follow the above link to see a schedule of upcoming meetings.

Tell your elected officials to support public transit

Elected officials from city councilors and county commissioners, to governors and senators can all have an impact on public transit. Check out this list of Detroit area elected officials and how to contact them.

Volunteer

TRU is primarily a volunteer-driven organization. There are lots of ways to help out, from office work and mailings, to transit planning and lobbying. To receive regular emails about volunteer opportunities, sign up on the Email Lists page.  You can also contact us to let us know you're interested.

Internships

College students and others can get actively involved in bringing transit to metro Detroit while getting great work experience and potentially earning class credit. Send your resume with an email explaining your interest to trumember@detroittransit.org to apply or get more information.
