Join a Canvass for Wayne County Transit!

This week, absentee ballots for the August primary election are being mailed out to hundreds of thousands of voters across Wayne County. Some voters will start filling them out as soon as they receive them! Now is the time to get the word out about the Wayne County transit proposal, and make sure people know to vote “YES” to both sustain and expand bus service.

TRU is scheduling dozens of canvass shifts in the coming month to get the word out to people across the county – from Canton to Detroit to Grosse Pointe. What’s a canvass? Glad you asked! In brief, canvassing is just handing out information and talking to people about the proposal, mostly at various fairs, festivals and farmers’ markets. Ideally, we’ll sign up some more people to help spread the word about the proposal as well.

No experience is needed – we’ll provide a brief training and pair you with an veteran canvasser – and as seen above, it can actually be pretty fun. Sign up below to get involved, and we’ll follow up with upcoming opportunities!

Got additional ideas for spreading the word, or events we might want to canvass at? We’d love to hear about them! E-mail TRU Campaigns Manager Joel Batterman at joel [at] detroittransit [dot] org.
