SMART 2027 Expansion – Transit Tuesday Talk 11/10

With Wayne Countywide Transit, SMART is Expanding… But How and Where?

SMART has studied various new routes across the region as part of SMARTer Mobility, their 2024-5 system redesign, and the Wayne County Transit Evaluations before the Wayne County transit millage vote in August, which passed by 66% yes to 33% no. In fact, you’ve probably seen some of the proposed new routes in Wayne County! Additionally, Macomb County will vote to renew their SMART millage on November 3, a few days before this Transit Tuesday Talk, and we’re sure there’ll be a bit to discuss about Macomb!

That’s why on November 10, from 6 to 7:30pm, we’ll host Jordan Von Zynda, SMART’s Vice President of Planning, to discuss how, when, and where new service will be implemented. Just because we approved countywide transit by historic margins, doesn’t mean service can be implemented overnight. Routes will need to be tested and adjusted, vehicles will need to be acquired, drivers hired, and so much more. So join us to find out how transit will expand across Metro Detroit next year!
