Today, SMART moved their headquarters from the First National Building to the history Buhl Building in downtown Detroit, across the street from the Guardian Building (clearly SMART wanted to be even closer to TRU ).
According to SMART officials, the move will save them $2 million over the ten-year lease, due to a smaller space and sharing SEMCOG’s board room, printing press and other resources.
In the coming weeks, SMART will open customer information offices in the lobby of the Buhl Building as well.
SMART will continue to maintain office space and terminals in the Wayne Terminal in Wayne County; the Pontiac Terminal and Troy Oakland Terminal in Oakland County and the Macomb Terminal in Clinton Township.
