To help ensure that stolen bicycles can be returned to their proper owner, the Detroit Police Department is urging all bicycles riders to register their bikes with the city. For a minimal $1 fee per bike, you’ll receive a sticker for the bike with a registration number and a certificate of registration which can be used for verification. The registration lasts five years.
City code requires bicycles to be licensed, and police plan to start enforcing it August 7. So register your bike asap. Get more info, including precinct locations in the City press release.
