This week DDOT will conduct several public meetings to discuss the development of its Five-Year Service Plan, designed to address the region’s transportation needs. DDOT will present its goals to enhance and promote mass transit opportunities and growth. DDOT invites the public to come and discuss improvements to current bus service, the Woodward Avenue Light Rail Transit initiative, express service, dedicated bus lanes, high occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes and high occupancy toll (hot) lanes.
The meetings will be held on the following dates:
- Tuesday, August 19 – 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Northwest Activities Center, 18100 Meyers, Detroit
- Wednesday, August 20 – 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Wayne County Community College District, Cooper Room, 5901 Conner Avenue, Detroit
- Thursday, August 21 – 10 a.m. to noon at DDOT HQ, 1301 E. Warren, Room 107
- Thursday, August 21 – 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at DDOT HQ, 1301 E. Warren, Room 107
“We are asking the public to come out and participate in the public meetings to ensure that the most efficient service is being provided to our region,” said DDOT Director Lovevett Williams. “Not only will the service plan outline strategies to reliably transport the masses to destinations of choice, but also provide support to produce a much cleaner, safer and environmentally-friendly region. Our objective is to promote system-wide efficiencies and growth in mass transit.”
A document describing the proposed Five-Year Service Plan will be distributed to all public meeting attendees and posted on DDOT’s Web site. For more information, please contact DDOT’s Customer Service at (313) 933-1300.
