Transit in the news

Did you know that TRU tracks all the news media related to Detroit transit issues?  You can get a great summary of transit in the news with just one web-click, thanks to the hard work of several fabulous volunteers.  It includes not only news articles directly about Detroit transit, but also national transit articles, major Michigan transportation issues, key blogs, and much more.

Here’s just a sampling of what you can find on TRU’s Transit in the News webpage:

Carl Levin, D-Mich.) that would permit the $125 million that privately funded M1 Rail Inc. will spend on a light-rail link between Detroit’s Hart Plaza and New Center to be used as local matching funds required for the city’s plan to extend the line from the New Center to Eight Mile Road for another estimated $300 million. . . ."

·         Free Press Editorial:  Oakland should opt in to SMART resolution – ". . . Transportation — whether roads, buses or rail — is a regional service that should be planned and funded in a truly regional way. Oakland County’s initiative for eliminating opt-out provisions would bring southeast Michigan a lot closer to the comprehensive system southeast Michigan needs."
