Exciting progress on a Regional Transit Authority

Any doubt that southeast Michigan needs and wants an official Regional Transit Authority is being quickly swept away!

Nearly all of the major elected bodies in the region have recently passed (or are about to pass) resolutions in support of creating a Regional Transit Authority!

This Friday, these commissioners and council members will meet at the SE Michigan Regional Summit to discuss the importance of Regional Transit and call on the Governor and Legislature to take action soon!

We need your help to demonstrate broad public support by volunteering a few hours to gather in-person petition signatures.  TRU will supply the postcards and instructions; we need your time and dedication!  Sign up online to volunteer or contact our fabulous Organizing Intern Leah Yankee for more information.

You can also sign our online petition to Governor Snyder, then share it with your friends:

"Michigan needs more and better public transit!
Please make transit a top priority, including:
 1) Fully fund public transit;
 2) Create a Detroit Regional Transit Authority; and
 3) Provide new voter-approved options for cities to fund transit."

With your help, we’ll finally get the Regional Transit Authority the region needs to succeed!!
