DDOT bus service returns with promises for better security

According to the Free Press Friday afternoon:

"Bing said bus drivers got back behind the wheel around 1:30 p.m. today after he and officials from the city’s transit unions and police came up with a deal after bus drivers walked off the job this morning, paralyzing Detroit Department of Transportation service and leaving riders stranded across the city.

Detroit Police will randomly pull buses over citywide for inspections and beef up enforcement at the downtown transit center and elsewhere in a zero-tolerance campaign against people who mistreat or attack city bus drivers, Detroit Mayor Dave Bing said this afternoon.
