Get involved to improve DDOT and regional transit!!

February may be the shortest month of the year, but it may be the busiest for transit advocacy!!  Please join us for these important activities:

1)  First TRU Ambassador monthly conference call

  • Thursday, Feb 9, 6:00 – 7:00 pm. Call in number: 605-475-4850, passcode: 636655#.

TRU Ambassadors are community leaders who help spread the transit message throughout their groups and networks.  Join this call to learn more about our top two priorities – improving DDOT and passing the RTA – and how you can get involved to help spread to word and win the campaign!  Ambassadors needed to recruit people, testify to City Council, and share information about TRU campaigns with their community-based & faith-based groups, clubs/associatioons, schools, and workplaces.

2)  I Love Public Transit / Good Bus Service No Matter What campaign – February 9 – 17

This season of love, help us remind our elected officials how important transit is, especially Mayor Bing and State Treasurer Andy Dillion.  No matter what happens with the city or state budget, we need good public transit!  Help distribute flyers and stickers, testify at City Council and call Mayor Bing and Treasurer Dillon.

3)  Big Transit Day at the Capitol to build legislative support for the Regional Transit Authority

Tentative planned for Thursday, Feb. 23 (all day) in Lansing (a bus from Detroit should be available)

Or if you can’t come to Lansing, we need your help to meet with legislators locally and to make calls and emails to them

For more information on any or all of these, contact Ruth Johnson at [email protected] or 313-963-8872.
