Beginning August 16, the Detroit Transportation Corporation closed the Detroit People Mover’s Grand Circus Park station to begin the first phase of a major renovation which coincides with the restoration of the David Whitney Building. The station will remain closed through early January 2015.
People Mover trains will bypass Grand Circus park station. Patrons have the option of using the two People Mover stations in the area —Times Square to the west of Woodward, or Broadway to the east of Woodward—during construction.
The project represents a facelift for the station. Upon completion, the new station will feature independent ADA-accessibility from Washington Boulevard directly to the station platform.
