Call for regional transit!

Regional bickering is about to kill transit progress, yet again!!

The legislature is debating a bill to create Regional Transit Authority – an agency to finally bring southeast Michigan together to make real progress improving public transit. This is absolutely critical, yet some Detroit and Oakland County officials are opposing it, refusing to share control and funding.

Help ensure real transit progress
tell your legislators that regional cooperation is critical to transit progress;
they must pass the Regional Transit Authority!

Step 1) Get your legislator’s phone number (and email address).

Step 2) Call your legislator. Tell them you want to see real progress on public transit and ask if you can count on them to support the Regional Transit Authority. (If they say definitely yes, thank them!)

Step 3) Tell us what they said, including any particular questions or concerns.

Then urge your friends to do the same!

The Regional Transit Coordinating Council, which brought the big four together around the regional transit plan, is shutting down. This RTA bill could be our last best chance for true regional transit, before campaign season and a whole new legislature destroys all the progress towards regional cooperation of the last two years.

It’s now or never – call today!!
