As Congressional leaders work to finalize the federal budget, passenger rail and high-speed rail remains at risk. The House of Representatives has proposed to eliminate the high-speed rail program entirely, cut funding for Amtrak, and eliminate funding to expand transit. They even propose to take back high-speed rail funds from the stimulus package and the 2010 budget (including funding promised to Michigan!).
Please, take a moment to contact your Senators and Representatives and ask them to protect the funding for these important investments in our transportation infrastructure.
