The Detroit News gave the first glimpse of DDOT service cuts:
"Detroit bus officials announced cuts to service this morning that will take effect Sept. 26.
A full list of the cuts — which include discontinued routes, wait increases, delayed starts and eliminated late-night runs — will be available this afternoon on the Web site of the Detroit Department of Transportation.
Among the highlights: The No. 20 Grand Belt route will be eliminated, while the No. 24 Holbrook will no longer run on weekdays.
The No. 40 Russell route, which runs through Eastern Market, will no longer have service on weekends, while the No. 47 Tireman and No. 49 Vernor won’t run on Sundays.
Late-night service on weekdays will stop at 11 p.m. on No. 12 Conant; at 11:30 p.m. on No. 9 Chalmers, No. 15 Chicago/Davison; and midnight for No. 10 Chene, No. 11 Clairmont and No. 31 Mack.
Wait times on dozens of routes will increase 10-15 minutes.
Mayor Dave Bing is cutting the routes and planning to lay off drivers as part of his plan to curb an accumulated city deficit of at least $300 milllion."
