A huge thank you to everyone who came out for our 2011 Annual Meeting Tuesday! The standing-room only event had over 120 people attending, a dozen new members signed up, and dozens of people volunteering to help spread the Woodward Light Rail message!
Our meeting also received plenty of media interest – WDET, Metro Times, Ch. 7 & the Free Press. We will take advantage of the excellent turnout and the buzz around the Woodward Light Rail project by connecting last night’s volunteers with opportunities to help TRU build public support for WWLR.

- Tomorrow, Jan. 28 – DDOT will release the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) on the WWLR project at www.WoodwardLightRail.com.
- Next Thursday, Feb. 10 from 6:00 – 7:30 pm – TRU Bus Improvement Strategy Meeting at the TRU Office. Contact Patty Fedewa for more info.
- Monday, Feb. 7 from 6:00 – 7:30 pm – TRU’s How to Have a Let’s Talk Transit Conversation at the MSU Detroit Center.
- Saturday, Feb. 12 from 11am-1pm and from 4pm-6pm – DDOT WWLR Public Meeting at the Main Detroit Public Library.
Thanks to the many people who helped make the Annual Meeting a success. Mike Whims, Marcia Yakes, Aaron Thomas, Kevin Smith, Donna Walker and Dave Kuziemko greeted & registered guests and/or collected the loot. Chris Frey facilitated the business portion where Deena Fox was elected and Karen Kendrick-Hands & Kelly Logan were re-elected. Ruth recognized all TRU volunteers but identifies Aaron, Dave, Donna and Daniel Duane Spyker as "inside-outside" volunteers. Kevin Smith shared reporting on the Project Teams’ past & future activities with Megan & Ruth. Special thanks to Aaron & Dave for serving as scorekeepers for the Woodward Light Rail game show. Also special thanks to our very own Music Maestro/Tech Guru Kelly Logan. Last but not least, a big shout out to our friends at the MSU Detroit Center – Chuck Rivers, Toni Warr and Leona.
