MHC Corps Member Role and Responsibilities

Expanding public transit is critical to minimizing the climate crisis but Michigan’s largest county still lacks countywide transit, which results in more driving, more climate pollution, and fewer opportunities for thousands of people. Help Transportation Riders United to change that by lifting up the critical need for improved public transit! You’ll make the case for public transit and engage people and organizations throughout Wayne County to improve and expand transit.

  • Educate people in Wayne County and beyond about the benefits of public transit, what transportation options exist, and how to utilize them.
  • Engage with transit riders and other community members to understand their mobility experiences and needs and invite them to get involved in transportation planning.
  • Grow the TRU Wayne County Volunteer Committee, educate them about who makes critical transit decisions, and explore together how barriers to widespread transit ridership can be overcome.
  • Connect transit riders and other concerned residents, especially from impacted communities, with opportunities to have their voices heard and be part of local, regional, and state transportation planning.
