Michigan leaders need to invest in the full transportation system!

Despite Michigan voters passing over 90% of transit ballot measures across the state over the past 10 years, Michigan legislators have not made transit funding a priority over the past two decades. Based on current proposals, Michigan’s 77 transit agencies could get the lowest state reimbursement ever, even as need for transit grows.

Even as our state juggles many needs, transit cannot be an afterthought!

Opportunities to invest in public transit

Michigan legislators are making important decisions right now on transportation investments. We urge them to increase state investment in public transit by:

  • Boost Local Bus Operating funds in MDOT’s FY2026 budget
  • Only support a transportation funding package that includes the long-standing 10% for the Comprehensive Transportation Fund
  • Support HB4210 which allocates more of the Auto-Related Sales Tax to the Comprehensive Transportation Fund
