The Michigan Transportation Odyssey is back. Touring through Michigan from Traverse City to downtown Detroit September 26-27, the Transportation for Michigan coalition will take another look at Michigan’s transportation system: What works? What doesn’t? What’s changed and what’s stayed the same?
Trans4M is excited to highlight some of the groundbreaking wins across the state: Metro Detroit finally has a regional transit authority and is moving ahead with transit along Woodward; Grand Rapids broke ground on Michigan’s first bus rapid transit(BRT) system; Kalamazoo is taking transit countywide; and unprecedented attention to non-motorized transit has resulted in a number of planned and ongoing improvements to our trails and greenways.
This year’s expedition through the mitten will visit or touch on all these important projects and learn how they’re shaping the future of Michigan. There will be provide plenty of chances to follow along and participate, including speaker events, meet-ups, and tours.
Everyone is welcome to join in person or online for another firsthand glimpse into the connections (and lack thereof) in and between Michigan’s metropolitan areas. Details at http://trans4m.org/odyssey/itinerary/
The last stop will be the special finale event at 6pm at 1515 Broadway (note location change!!) in downtown Detroit for a special happy hour and conversation about “outside the box” thinking to better connect our city, region and state being hosted by IMG Media as part of the Model D Speaker Series. http://www.modeldmedia.com/features/speakersept13.aspx
