RTCC public meetings this week!

The Future of Transit
in Greater Detroit

Now Available at a public meeting near you!

The Regional Transportation Coordinating Council has drafted the official regional transit plan for the tri-county Detroit area, including bus improvement proposals, where and when to build rapid transit, funding options, and much more. And they want to know what you think of it.

The RTCC is holding four public meetings to present the plan and receive public input on it. (Each meeting will provide the same information in an open house format, so individuals only need to attend part of one meeting.) Come see the plan and share your thoughts, concerns and ideas:

  • Wednesday, September 24, 4-7pm – Dearborn / Wayne County
    • U of M-Dearborn Fairlane Center
    • 19000 Hubbard Drive, between Evergreen and Southfield Fwy, and Ford and Michigan Ave.
  • Thursday, September 25, 4-7pm – Ferndale / Oakland County
    • Gerry Kulick Community Center
    • 1201 Livernois, just south of 9 Mile, west of Woodward
  • Wednesday, October 1, 4-7pm – Macomb County
    • Freedom Hill County Park, Independence Bldg
    • 15000 Metro Parkway (16 Mile Rd.), Sterling Heights, btn Utica and Schoenherr
  • Thursday, October 2, 4-7pm – Detroit
    • Tech Town, 440 Burroughs, btn Cass and 2nd, just north of I-94

This is a critical opportunity to help shape the future of transit in greater Detroit. Don’t miss it! For more information about the RTCC public meetings, call 313-393-3333.

If you can’t attend the meetings, or want to review it again, you can now see the proposed regional transit plan online, via the SEMCOG website.

TRU also wants to know your thoughts and how you want to help make it happen.

After each public meeting, join TRU members, friends and others for casual, agenda-less discussions about the proposed plan and other transit issues. Check the TRU table at the public meetings for where we’ll be meeting.

Also, come to the TRU Fall Meeting, discussing the plan and other transit happenings:

  • Tuesday, Oct. 7, 6:30pm
    • in the Guardian Building lower mezzanine, 500 Griswold, in downtown Detroit
