According to the StLToday.com:
"By a wide margin, (St. Louis) county voters approved a half-cent increase to the transit sales tax to restore lost bus and Call-A-Ride service and, eventually, expand the reach of mass transit farther into the St. Louis suburbs. . . .
The sales tax is expected to generate about $75 million a year in St. Louis County, which will be used to restore lost service and expand MetroLink and bus rapid transit.
"The purpose of the campaign was to let people know that there was a cost for voting yes — the tax," said Chesterfield Mayor John Nations, who ran the Proposition A campaign. "But there was also a cost for voting no. If it was voted down, people lose their jobs at Metro. People are going to lose their jobs because they can’t access them."
