Our friends at Transportation For America are closely following the national debate over a federal economic stimulus package, especially the infrastructure investment proposals. They’ve got some serious concerns about the House package and want the Senate to do better:
Last week, the House released a stimulus package that overemphasizes road-building and underfunds transit and other critical transportation projects.
The Senate must write a better bill – one that helps reduce our dependence on oil, establishes accountability, allocates money to public transportaion and transportation alternatives, and focuses on helping communities struggling to make do with rising costs and crumbling infrastructure.
Now’s not the time for another blank check. Tell your senators that our economic recovery depends on their investment in a cleaner, greener transportation system for the 21st Century.
