Tell Congress a 48% transit cut is unacceptable!

An update on the federal budget from our friends at the Transportation Equity Network:

Just a few weeks after the 2011 budget battle concluded, the US House is already preparing to take on the 2012 budget and they’ve proposed drastic cuts to the overall transportation budget.

The House recently approved Paul Ryan’s budget 2012 budget proposal which would strip 48% out of the President’s proposed transportation budget. The House budget would also radically shift overall transportation spending away from transit and towards highways.

Help us send a message. A 48% cut is unacceptable!!

We need to let our leaders know that this is unacceptable and dangerous, especially to our fragile economic recovery. House Transportation Committee Ranking Member Nick Rahall (D-WV) has said that it would destroy hundreds of thousands of jobs. The financial crisis is real but transit investments are a proven source of job creation and economic stimulation. Send a message today!
