The public can submit comments until Friday, Dec 11, on the Michigan Department of Transportation’s plans for major roadwork statewide through 2014. Important reminder – In September, the SMART Board of Directors voted to increase some bus fares as a way to minimize any cuts in service and address decreasing revenues due to the local economy (see the press release for details).  Those fare increases go into effect today! The Oakland County Commission’s General Government Committee voted today on a measure that would have allowed all of Oakland County to vote on a countywide SMART bus millage and countywide service.  Unfortunately the vote was tied 6-6 which was not enough to advance it to the full Commission.  Sponsors Steve Schwartz (D-Farmington) and Dave Potts
