John Hertel and TRU Director Megan Owens appeared on WDIV Channel 4’s Sunday morning talkshow Flashpoint hosted by Devon Scillian this week. If you missed it, definitely watch it online.
Oakland County Executive Brooks Patterson was also on the Sunday talkshows, in this case WWJ TV’s Michigan Matters program with Carol Cain. (The video and text are available online, look for 3/22, section 4) He also used the opportunity to discuss transit, noting the good news of funding pledged to build the first section of Woodward light rail. He then mentioned Megan Owens by name, noting her enthusiasm for the project and the enormous economic benefits it will bring. He then directed several questions to her about how to fund the operations of it and how much it’s going to cost us.
Unfortunately she was not on the show with him, so did not have an opportunity to respond to his queries, but is quite eager to do so. It is great progress that the transit debate has moved from if we need transit, or even what the benefits will be, to which tax is most appropriate to fund our system! Hopefully Carol Cain will provide Megan an opportunity to directly respond to Mr. Patterson’s questions in a future show.
