UM Design Workshop – visions of a new downtown

For four days in late January, urban planning students and design professionals from U of M and around the country met to envision what downtown Detroit could look like five years and twenty years from now.  And they’ve got some wonderful visions:

  • A more walkable, pedestrian-friendly downtown

  • A modern streetcar on Woodward

  • Lots of new lots and condos
  • A grocery store and other big retail in the temporary MGM Grand Casino
  • And lots more.
