What's Going On: Transit Funding Plans

As you probably know, the single biggest barrier to successful transit is funding.

While the region needs to continue to develop rapid transit plans, get better regional cooperation, and improve bus service, without sufficient and stable funding, Michigan will never have the quality regional transit system that is so important to our future.

This fall, we have several critical opportunities to break through that barrier and start to garner the funding transit needs, including:

  • The Official Regional Transit Plan, by the RTCC
  • SEMCOG’s Long-Range Transportation Plan: Direction2035
  • Michigan Transportation Funding Task Force

We’ve developed a webpage explaining each of these projects, providing links and upcoming opportunities to get involved:  What’s Going On: Transit Funding Plans.

It is similar to our recent webpage developed to provide explanations and updates on the various rapid transit projects:  What’s Going On: Rapid Transit Projects in Greater Detroit.

Check out both to better understand all the exciting transit progress and opportunities.
