The Tunnel Bus Lives! New Linq Bus Officially Starts Service

The Linq Tunnel Bus vehicle, wrapped in US and Canadian flags

The Tunnel Bus lives!!! Thanks to The Linq Tunnel Bus this vital connection restarted service on Monday as a privately operated bus. Here’s what you need to know.

Schedule

The bus runs everyday, 6am to 11pm Monday through Saturday, and 8am to 7pm on Sundays. View schedules at The Linq’s website.

Stops

Currently there are five stops, two in Windsor and three in Detroit.

Get on in Windsor at Bruce & Riverside, near the south side of the driveway at the parking lot. There’s a drop off only stop for Caesars Windsor at McDougall and University. BTW, the Bruce & Riverside stop is a two block walk from the Windsor Transit Centre.

In Detroit, stops are at Washington & Jefferson, Cass & Michigan, and at the Tunnel Plaza @ Mariners Church. All three of these are at old Tunnel Bus stops, so look for the old Transit Windsor bus signs.

Payment & Finding the Bus

The bus costs $15, and payment is cashless, so have a debit or credit card ready.

Also, there are currently no signs at the stops, and the bus does not appear yet in Google Maps, but the service is brand new, so we’re hopeful these will come soon. For now, get updates from their website TheLinqTunnelBus.com, or their socials. We’re excited for this new service, and thankful that bus riders between the US and Canda won’t be stranded!

What’s Next?

We’re very happy that riders still have a bus service to get across the border, but are disappointed to see a public service become privatized. The Tunnel bus exists in some form still largely due to the uproar we and our Windsor allies made about the bus being cut.

TRU will keep on fighting for a public Tunnel Bus, and for DDOT and Transit Windsor to cooperate on this service. Until then, we’ll work with and advocate for riders on The Linq to make sure this private service is meeting the needs of riders, and we’re thankful The Linq allows riders to get across the border.
