Want to Help Get Out the Bus Rider Vote? TRU is Hiring!

Turnout among voters in Detroit is often low, and transit riders are no exception. Yet transit riders have important needs our elected officials should be working to serve. That’s why this fall, TRU is hiring Rider Engagement Fellows to help get out the vote! The fellows will talk to bus riders at transit centers, buses, and stops to register people to vote and encourage them to follow through.

This is an important election for many reasons, and the fate of public transit, among other policies, hangs in the balance. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, TRU cannot endorse or support any candidates or political parties, but we can and will help to get out the vote on a non-partisan basis.

If you enjoy talking to people, believe in transit and political participation, and have some time available this fall, we hope you’ll apply for this paid, part-time position! Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis, so please apply as soon as you can! Find application details at this link.
