From June 3 to June 16, TRU staff will be taking public transit to 16 cities across Michigan: Join us on our Round-the-Mitten Transit Tour!
What is the Round-the-Mitten transit tour?
The Round-the-Mitten transit tour is a project by TRU to travel all around Michigan, all without driving. We’ll take buses, trains, ferries, and trolleys for over 1,600 miles, visiting large cities and small towns, from Detroit to Marquette, and Benton Harbor to Port Huron.
Why are we doing this?
We’re making this epic quest to better understand how well transportation is serving Michiganders, especially those who don’t drive. We’ll meet transit advocates, agencies, workers, and riders across our state to understand what’s working well and what needs improvement. We want to highlight that it’s possible to get around our state if you don’t drive while also learning how transportation needs to be improved beyond the metro Detroit area.
How can you participate?
Join us at an event in any town we’re visiting! We want to hear from you, meet anyone interested in transit in your community, and organize to fight for more and better transit! Please also follow our social media channels to see how it’s all going.
