SMART is considering big changes to better serve southeast Michigan. Be among the first to see their two possible scenarios for overhauling bus routes and Flex zones throughout Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb Counties! Share your opinions on SMART’s present and future transit service.
Join us Tuesday evening June 11 for the latest of TRU’s Transit Tuesday Talks, this time featuring SMART leaders.
This is a hybrid event. Join us either:
- At St. John’s Episcopal Church at Woodward and 11 Mile in Royal Oak
- OR on Zoom
St. John’s Church is conveniently located on SMART’s Woodward and 11 Mile bus routes. Parking is also available, though limited. If the parking lot is full, look for street parking on Hendrie Street.
The in-person event will start with a 5:30pm reception. The program will begin at 6pm – both in-person and livestreamed on Zoom – with introductions and a presentation, followed by a moderated discussion and Q&A.
SMARTer Mobility is a planning effort SMART has been undertaking for more than a year, the results of which will be publicly shared June 10. Learn lots more at https://www.smarter-mobility.org, including their Existing Conditions report and their Market Analysis & Transit Demand Report:
“The SMARTer Mobility Program is an innovative initiative designed to enhance the current bus service by extending its reach to areas that may not warrant a traditional fixed-route bus system. The program addresses a crucial gap in public transportation, particularly for communities where the demand may not be sufficient for regular bus routes but where people still require access to recreational, educational, or employment opportunities. By reducing or even eliminating bus wait times, this flexible transportation option aims to make public transit more convenient and accessible for all. This not only empowers individuals who rely on public transport but also encourages a shift away from private car use, contributing to more sustainable urban mobility.
The program will consist of a comprehensive evaluation of all SMARTs mobility modes, infrastructure, and routes.”
