Detroit Resident Justin Fenwick has been doing their best to be car-free since an auto accident in 2006. Although they share a vehicle, Fenwick said he prefers taking the bus to get around.
Fenwick said they find that county wide funding would help us get to the minimum standard of having service covering the full county.
“County wide expansion in Wayne County would benefit me by filling in the holes in the current system,” Fenwick said. “Usually I have an option to get somewhere by bus, except for in these gaps in areas where service wasn’t traditionally provided.”
Fenwick said that people moving is economic activity and the more people we can move the more economic activity that we have.
“I think we are losing and shedding talent from this state still,” Fenwick said, “because the locations around the state don’t provide enough transportation accessibility and that includes in the Detroit area.”
