Ryan Fanselow, Detroit resident and professor at Wayne State University, tries to get around using transit as much as possible. Before moving to Detroit, Fanselow lived in Washington DC, where they sold their car due to the accessibility of transit options in the area.
“It’s really inspired me, I’ve seen what it can be and so there’s no reason people in Detroit don’t deserve what people in Washignton DC experience or wouldn’t benefit from that,” Fanselow said. “I would love to bring something as close as we can to that to Detroit.”
Fanselow said although you can get around using transit in the Detroit area, it’s not always convenient, and some places are easier than others.
“When we’re trying to connect to other cities from Detroit, if you want to go say from Detroit to Dearborn or something, it can be challenging,” Fanselow said. “There are options but there’s not many, and for smaller cities there’s often very little or nothing. So just allowing people to get around between cities not just within cities I think is so important.”
