Share your Thoughts on Transit and TRU

Please share your opinions and ideas in our Regional Transit Survey on:
– the importance of regional transit,
– the Regional Transit Plan,
– factors in the ballot failure
– effectiveness of TRU as a transit advocate
– next steps in fighting to improve our region’s transit.

It takes between 3-10 minutes to complete, depending on how much detail you choose to provide. Your input will help us decide how to most effectively fight for the transit our region needs. Thanks!

Apply to join TRU's Board of Directors

TRU is seeking energetic and talented individuals to serve on our Board of Directors.
The board sets TRU’s priorities, values, and funding, while also serving as community ambassadors.
As TRU is striving to develop a Board of Directors as diverse as the Detroit region, we are especially seeking transit riders, people with strong connections to Detroit and Macomb County, and people with financial oversight, fundraising, and organizational development skills.
If you are interested in challenging yourself with this exciting opportunity, review our Guide for Prospective Boardmembers document and contact us to learn more. Applications are due December 15.

RTA funding vote lost, despite huge need and great support

Despite a huge effort from many supporters, the Regional Transit funding ballot measure lost with 50.5% no votes outweighing the 49.5% of yes votes.

I am extraordinarily proud of our efforts, including the RTA’s great plan, the immense coalition of supporters and the passionate and hardworking activists. A sincere and deep thank you to each and everyone one of you!

Yes ultimately, our efforts proved to not be enough, especially as our calls for compassion and bringing the region together were drowned out in an election of fear and anger at the “other.”

What’s next? Well, there was no Plan B in place.

The RTA will continue to coordinate transit as they and others discuss and decide what happens next. Please stay tuned and stay involved.
