TRU is seeking passionate talented individuals to serve on our Board of Directors.

Board members are brought together by a shared commitment to improving our local economy and quality of life through improved public transportation.

Board member responsibilities include monthly meetings, ambassadorship for the organization, participation in TRU events, a significant contribution (individually determined), and a willingness to share time and talents for the common goal.

TRU Annual Meeting highlighted progress, challenges

TRU’s Annual Meeting, held Monday January 2017 at the MSU Detroit Center, was packed with over 150 people including transit agency leaders and employees, bus riders, civic leaders, public officials, community activists, and transit supporters.

The event included
1) a TRU presentation on The 2016 Year In Review
2) A State of Metro Detroit Transit Panel Discussion, featuring RTA’s Michael Ford, SMART’s John Hertel, DDOT’s Dan Dirks, and M-1 Rail’s Sommer Woods
3) The TRU Board Election

Welcome to TRU's New Board Members, Thanks to Outgoing Members

At TRU’s Annual Meeting on January 30, current TRU members voted to approve a new slate of Board Members. Following an open call for applications, TRU’s Board Development Committee and current Board members voted to recommended Sam Butler, Tanise Hill, and Julie Tschirhart, who will serve from 2017 through 2019.

2017 TRU Annual Meeting: The State of the Detroit Region’s Transit

Where: MSU Detroit Center. 3408 Woodward, in midtown Detroit.

What: Get transit updates from TRU, RTA, DDOT, and others, plus vote on TRU Board of Directors and discuss next steps for improving transit.
