Transit Voices: Rob Reeve

Downriver resident Rob Reeve fell in love with public transit while living in Washington DC, and quickly found himself missing the the Metro and Bus system after moving back to Michigan. Reeve said the bus in DC could get him to an airport in another state in under an hour while a bus ride in Michigan to visit his brother in Farmington Hills would take four hours.

I feel like I’m in a different country riding the buses here compared to riding them back in DC,” Reeve said.

Despite this, Reeve has high hopes for the future of transit in Detroit and the state of Michigan, joining us in Lansing for Transit Day at the Capitol to lobby for increased transit funding.

“I want to have my friends who are really into sports be able to go downtown for a Lions game and not pay $50 to $100 in parking, have a couple beers and go home not having to worry about driving tipsy,” Reeve said. “There are a million good reasons to be a fan of transit in Detroit and to let go of your car, even in the Motor City.
