M-1 Rail Streetcar Under Construction

Construction is currently underway for Michigan’s first streetcar in sixty years!

The M-1 Rail streetcar project, once completed in 2016, will provide modern electric streetcar service every 8-12 minutes between downtown Detroit and the New Center area.

While construction creates a bit of a headache, the M-1 Rail team is doing everything they can do speed construction and minimize disruptions.

A big win for SMART bus service and transit investment

Voters provided a huge win for the SMART millage! The SMART millage increase passed with very strong support:
– Oakland – 73.6% support
– Wayne – 63.1% support
– Macomb – 59.6% support

Congrats to New RTA CEO Michael Ford!

The RTA is finally ready to step on the gas, today voting unanimously to offer the position of CEO to Michael Ford.

He’s got great experience in Seattle, Portland and Ann Arbor. He understands the importance of substantive community engagement and is driven to make a real difference.
